If you recently got engaged, you might be having a tough time figuring out the best way to celebrate this exciting and monumental time in your life. Under normal circumstances, you might have hosted an in-person gathering with friends and family, but the current coronavirus pandemic is preventing these kinds of events from occurring.

Luckily, there is another option: hosting a virtual engagement party. Through a digital platform such as Zoom or HouseParty, couples can host an engagement party right from their home, and invite all of the same guests they would if they had an in-person party—and more. Even loved ones who live across the country—or the world—are now able to partake in the celebration.

While throwing a virtual engagement party is easier than hosting an in-person one, it still requires some careful planning. Without the same budget restraints you would normally be under if you were hosting an in-person engagement party, you may be tempted to invite an extra dozen people—or more. But remember that your guest count still matters. Be sure to send an actual invitation so that your guests know all of the details for the celebration.

Danielle Rothweiler of Rothweiler Event Design in Verona, New Jersey, suggests updating your wedding website with all of the key information about the party and even delegating two to three bridesmaids to help get the word out. You may be surprised by how eager your friends will be to help you, especially during these trying times! JoAnn Gregoli of Elegant Occasions in New York City, recommends setting a menu and encouraging guests to make something very easy—like a cheese and charcuterie board or muffins.

You can also include a dessert section so that you and your soon-to-be spouse can practice feeding each other for the big day! For example, Weinberg suggests sending everyone a celebratory banner that they can hang as a backdrop or party hats that they can all wear.

A few carefully-chosen games will not only liven up your virtual engagement party experience, but also provide a bonding opportunity for your guests who may not know each other or live in different parts of the country or world! Here are a few game ideas for your virtual celebration:.

Their partner answers the question and sees if their answers are a match. Send each engagement party guest a printable like this one before the event, where they can answer fun questions about the couple, then share the correct answers during the party. Whoever gets the most right, wins! Each guest shares two truths and a lie about themselves, and everyone has to guess which statement is the lie.

This game is probably best for virtual engagement parties with smaller guest lists, but you could also create breakout rooms so smaller groups can play together. Everyone brings a notepad and marker to the party, and the group is divided into teams. Whichever team has the most correct guesses, wins.

Divide the guests into teams and use an online charades idea generator to find words and phrases. Each team has a minute to guess the word or phrase that is being acted out. Jackbox offers a variety of raucous online party games that are great for groups—Fibbage, Quiplash, and Drawful are a few of our favorites. Each guest will need their mobile device handy to play, and the host can share their screen on Zoom so everyone can view the game. Make sure that someone is recording the party, as it is important to capture this moment.

You can record your virtual engagement party through your computer, or likely through an online meeting service like Zoom. Just make sure you know how to record, and have tested it out a couple of times before the actual event. And once the party is over, be sure to share the recording with your guests so everyone can relive the fun. Begin typing to search, use arrow keys to navigate.

With many people choosing to quarantine and stay home more often, Zoom provides a way to bring your friends together in one spot.

Everyone can join while in their pajamas and still enjoy some social time. Any of the games on our list would be viable options for non-work events, so consider changing up your virtual happy hours by adding a game to have some fun.

It also works for family gatherings, which is particularly beneficial when people live in all various parts of the country but can jump on a video call together. Are you planning virtual games for a large group? Feeling overwhelmed? Reach out to us! Our highly-rated virtual team-building activities facilitate communication, increase engagement, and promote positive company culture.

Additionally, we offer online games suitable for families and friends, including custom events for holiday parties and other special occasions! Many workers are suffering from Zoom fatigue and burnout from the struggles of pandemic work life.

By inviting everyone to be engaged while on video conferencing software, it helps boost productivity and team morale overall. In fact, these games offer all kinds of benefits for teams. You can increase collaboration, help team members get to know each other better, practice different methods of communication, and tap into available skillsets. When it comes to leisure time outside of work hours, being able to laugh and hang out with friends has never been easier because you can participate from anywhere in the world.

One of the most popular Zoom games is good old-fashioned trivia. You can change up the themes each time to give everyone a chance to excel.

There are endless trivia questions available online and you can have everyone put their answers in the chat or buzz in to answer. Send everyone on a scavenger hunt! Challenge attendees to find a list of things around their home or office and see who can locate everything the quickest. The list can be made up of anything! Make it a variety of things like a book by a certain author, a green marker, a calendar, and other items that people might have to work harder to find.

Another option is to make it an Internet scavenger hunt. Challenge everyone to find certain memes or GIFs and post their findings. You could even offer prizes to the team that gets finishes fastest!

With video platforms, you have the option to make the game something visual. Try a lip-reading challenge. Mute the person who is going to read a certain phrase and have them say it multiple times and see if anyone can successfully read their lips.

This can be a hilarious game with some wild guesses. Split up into two teams and compete against each other to see who can get the most correct. Pick someone to start with and have them share something they can see.

Then, ask everyone else to see if they can locate the person that has that item behind them. You might even try sending out a request for attendees to download themed backgrounds ahead of time!

For example, you could make it a Disney-themed game or have people use hometown elements in their backdrops. Activities like this are constructive ways to get to know each other.

Superlatives are commonly known as a yearbook activity for high school students, but why put an age limit on them? Come up with weird and wacky ones and make a hilarious Zoom game for your group! Instead of flipping down the people on the game board, people can shut off their cameras so you can see who is left. Alternatively, you could have everyone submit a surprising about themselves and then allow people to guess which coworker the statement is about.

You can choose to do one or two at the beginning or end of meetings as just a simple activity to get the attendees engaged. Everyone loves the classic board game of Clue, so why not bring that same level of mystery to your Zoom calls.

Set up a Murder Mystery party for your team. There are sometimes caps for group size, so check to see if the vendor will work with you to accommodate your team.

Most of these events will involve some characters and people will have the chance to get creative and use accessories, costumes, or backdrops. See how our corporate activities work and schedule a consultation call today! Recreate your favorite game shows like Jeopardy or Family Feud with your team.

There are many ways to bring a quiz show to your team. You can put together a list of questions and just have people fill out their answers and grade it themselves if you want to keep it simple. You can split people into teams and put them into chat groups to discuss answers before answering.

There are some apps that will allow you to share quizzes and presentations with a large group. Taboo is another game that can be played with large groups. The basic idea is that someone is given a word and they need to get their team to guess the word without saying any of the restricted words on the card.

You can split into multiple teams and compete for points. Another classic group game that can be done virtually is Charades. Divide everyone into teams and jump right in. It might be better to put some thought into the things they might have to act out because they will only be able to act from the waist up unless they are standing up and backing away from the computer—which might make it even more challenging!

Heads Up is a popular choice that incorporates a lot of charades as well as other classic games. Everyone will need to download the app on their phone or use the app Houseparty which allows you to play virtually in the app. There are some really cool online drawing tools where people can share their screens or you can have them draw things and hold them up on the screen. Using online tools allows people to see the drawings in progress to start guessing, so those are probably easier.

Not only can our guides handle the details, but our energetic hosts will lead the event! All you need to do is answer some questions, finalize the guest list, and get ready to draw! Contact us to get started. A crowd favorite that is incredibly simple to play and put together is bingo. Either download bingo cards or make your own and send them out to the team ahead of the call.

You can do classic numbers to call out and even order your own Bingo wheel to use or you can get more creative with the bingo cards. Many people are loving the bingo games that cover things that often happen on Zoom calls, such as someone accidentally being on mute or an interruption by a pet or kid at home.

Offer little prizes for the winners to add an extra element of appeal. To start, you pick a category and then call on a random person and they have to list five things that fit in that category and then call out the next topic and next person. The categories can be anything from types of Halloween candy to Marvel superheroes to the Great Lakes. You can also play other word games, like Scattergories, where you give everyone a letter of the alphabet.

Start the timer and they each have to write down words that start with that letter and fit into a collection of categories.

It helps get people thinking and brings a little friendly competition. Escape rooms have become popular Zoom games for large groups! You can divide attendees into smaller groups and have them compete against each other to see who can escape.

This is a terrific way for remote teams to get to know each other. Challenges like this help improve communication, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. Use them to unite your staff and offer a casual way to make your staff more efficient. Codenames quickly shot up to the top of the list as one of the most popular family games in the last few years.

You can even find spin-offs now! This makes a great Zoom game for large groups. There are 25 words and each team has certain words they need their team members to guess but you can only use one word to describe them. There is also one word on the table that both teams want to completely avoid because it will instantly make your team lose. This is an excellent game to play virtually and the free online tool makes it really easy. If you love March Madness brackets, then you are definitely familiar with this icebreaker.

Pick a category and have everyone submit their favorites. Plot them out on brackets and start voting to pick winners of random matchups. Allow the people who submitted the item to give an argument of why they should win if you want more active participation. Crown winners for each game and continue until you have a winner overall. The categories can be favorite movies, TV shows, restaurants, or anything.

This activity gets everyone talking and chatting and you might even walk away from the meeting with some things or places you want to check out. These online games can be utilized for workgroups, but they are probably better for groups that are a little more comfortable with one another. Zoom and other video conferencing software have the option to turn off the camera, so you can use that for games.

Truth and Dare is a game that allows you to take advantage of that feature.
